Immigration & Legal Status

12. What type of visa will I be on?

You will be sponsored under a J-1 visa for the teacher cultural exchange program.

Potentially, yes. Any change in employment must be formally reported and updated in your immigration records. KTT will guide you through this.

Financial Considerations

Yes. U.S. law mandates that J-1 teachers receive the same salary as their American counterparts in the same position.

The teacher covers the cost of visa filing, recruiter fee, and the J-1 visa sponsor fees. However, some schools may assist the teacher with the J-1 visa sponsor’s fees.

Yes. J-1 workers are subject to the same federal, state, and local tax laws as U.S. residents.

18. Can I send money back home?

Absolutely. You may open a U.S. bank account and wire funds internationally at your discretion.

19. Do I need U.S. health insurance?
